Professor and class,
Calligraphy is an important art for in the Islamic religion. The Qur’an is written in elegant script signifying God’s divine word. Calligraphy’s omnipresence enhances the value placed on the Arabic language. (McCauley-Lewis, 2018).
According to Molloy (2013), Islamic art demonstrates an appreciation for ornamentation. Beautiful writing has become an integral part of Islamic art creating paradise on Earth (p. 451). The care of beauty along with the love of the Qur’an have caused on emphasis on the beauty of the handwritten word, these extend the image of paradise.
There are many ways that artwork is shown in the Islamic religion; beautiful prayer rugs, decorated ceilings in the mosques and prayer gardens.
