Assignment: Mixed Methods Research Resources
Organization and time management are essential skills, and sometimes bona fide challenges when completing a project. How do you keep track of your course readings, and why they are important to your work? How do you track resources and helpful tools you hear about in residencies, in courses, from colleagues, and while working with your committee? How do you know what Walden’s expectations are for the proposal and for the capstone? What is Form and Style review, and how do you prepare? What does the URR stand for, and what is it?
Knowing where to find important templates and checklists is a crucial first step to completing a Walden capstone successfully. However, these tools are only the beginning. No one knows your research question, your own strengths and weaknesses as a student and researcher, and your understanding of mixed methods research better than you. As you begin this course, it is important to begin collecting and organizing resources, and creating your own personal toolbox.
To prepare:
- Review the Learning Resources for the module.
- Think about how you might use some of those Learning Resources in your work.
- Identify resources you need that are not listed in the Learning Resources.
- Think about how you might find those needed resources and tools.
- As you identify tools, think specifically about how you might use them in your work.
By Day 7 of Week 2
Submit a 2-3 page list of resources that may be useful to you as you as you work on your capstone and on your Final Project for this course. This “Personal Toolbox†may include, but should not be limited to, the resources in the Course Toolbox area of the Learning Resources. Include a one-paragraph rationale for including each of the resources in your Personal Toolbox. In addition, reflect on whether gaps exist in your Personal Toolbox the areas that still need appropriate resources.
